Abstract

The design, simulation, fabrication, and measurement of a digital S-band 90 degree phase shifter for phased array radars employing PIN diodes are covered in this paper. In this study, simulation and measurement results of the insertion loss, return loss and phase difference for the 90 degree bit, as well as the structure's layout and the equations determining its behavior, have all been discussed. In the frequency range of 2.2-3.4GHz equal to 42.8% of the bandwidth, the simulation and measurement results reveal that this 90 degree bit has a maximum insertion loss of 0.7dB (simulation) and 0.85dB (measurement), a minimum return loss of 16.5dB (simulation and measurement), and a maximum phase deviation of ±5.8° (simulation and measurement).
